Nathan & Liams intamate wedding at Otterburn in Northumberland
Nathan and Liam are our very own modern family. We first met them at Nicole’s wedding, Nathan’s sister, at The Palm in Sunderland. We had eagerly anticipated their wedding, especially after it was postponed for a year due to the pandemic. It felt like ages since we had photographed an LGBTQ+ wedding. We were also thrilled to return to Le Petit Château in Otterburn, Northumberland, for the first time since Covid-19 hit.
From the moment we met Nathan and Liam, we knew their son Jack would steal the show. Being a reserved couple, they were completely fine with this. They wanted Jack to be involved in all aspects of their LGBTQ+ wedding day. He performed his best man duties wonderfully for his age.
We don’t approach an LGBTQ+ wedding any differently from any other wedding. As with every wedding, we follow the couple’s vision for the day. Liam, Nathan, and Jack all got ready together without any entourage to help. This might have been tricky with most children, but Jack was a star, taking this unusual day in his stride.
Rain can’t spoil our LGBTQ+ Wedding
We had just enough time to get a handful of shots of this wonderful couple before the rain forced us indoors. Thankfully, we always come prepared for Otterburn’s unpredictable weather. As long as we have a little bit of space, we can quickly set up our mobile studio lights to capture those essential family group photos at an LGBTQ+ wedding.
Emotional Wedding Speeches
Nathan and his mum had us all bawling with tears during their speeches. Their heartfelt words, supported by some well-placed humor, made for a perfect combination for wedding speeches. It was a great display of support and emotion. Thankfully, by the end of their meal, the skies cleared, and we were able to have some more fun outside at this wonderful LGBTQ+ wedding.
Fire & Water at Le Petit Château in Otterburn, Northumberland
Although the rain had given up, the stiff November wind had more to give. The Le Petit Château staff were unsure if the fountain’s flames would stay alight if they lit them. But after a little bit of charming we encouraged them to give it a go and they lasted about 2 mins before getting blown out. Just enough time to catch Liam, Nathan and Jack one last time before their first dance.
Reliving Nathan & Liam’s wedding day, really brought back some great memories. We only wish we could have posted it sooner. Wishing them a fantastic future together and we will always remember them as our Modern Family x
