After a couple of weeks away from Morpeth Town Hall, we were looking forward to Marie & Thain’s Wedding, followed by their reception at The Waterford Lodge Hotel. Marie & Thain are a wonderful couple. My first impression of Marie was how organised she was. She blamed this on her job and I don’t think we’ve ever gotten information as efficiently from a couple. So it must have been an uncomfortable start to the day for Marie when her hair & makeup ran behind.
The plan, for the start of the day, was for Lisa to meet the girls at the bride’s parents’ house at 10 am, after their pamper morning. Lisa arrived at the house and was greeted warmly by a stressed father of the bride, explaining the girls were running behind. When Marie & her Bridesmaids arrived it was all hands on deck to get them ready to make the registry office on time. Lisa helped where she could and still managed to get loads of shots of the very rushed prep. The stressful situation didn’t spoil everyone’s mood though.

Morpeth Town Hall
While Lisa was racing to get the bride to the registry office the boys & I seemed to have loads of time after we all got to Morpeth Town Hall super early. We got to it using our favourite spots to photograph the groom with his friends and family.

The bridesmaids had got to Morpeth Town Hall with Marie’s mum by taxis and had raced out without any money. I paid for their taxis, like the gentleman I wish I was to be promptly paid back by the bride’s wonderful dad at his first opportunity.

Although we had blue skies it was still cool at the end of September. Autumn was well underway and the colours Marie had picked for her wedding complimented the season perfectly. Despite the rushed morning, Marie looked stunning as she arrived at Morp

A Ballroom Ceremony in Morpeth Registry Office
The ballroom is an unexpected registry office. The Town Hall is almost 300 years old and was designed by famed architect Sir John Vanburgh. A £1.1m restoration was completed in 2013, it looks beautiful and we’re lucky it’s our local registry office. Hopefully, all this flattery will get them to increase their service times by 15 minutes.
Marie & Thain’s Parents looked so happy to see them tie the knot, as did the rest of their friends and family. The registrars gave a beautiful service.

Off to the Flower Park before the Waterford Lodge
The nice thing about The Waterford Lodge as a wedding venue is that it’s right next to Carlisle Park, better known as the Flower Park. It’s often hard to get guests to the park and we often just take the bride & groom. Today though, we got everyone there and then could send them off for a drink once we were finished with the groups Marie & Thain had asked for.

Of course, we still had time to focus on our couple too. As with most couples, Marie & Thain were a little apprehensive at having their photos taken, but they soon got into their mini photoshoot. The weather was perfect and it was a joy to photograph them.

The Waterford Lodge Hotel
When we arrived at The Waterford Lodge Hotel we still had some time to have fun with their friends. The function room is always lovely. It’s light and airy; great for photographers. We always enjoy visiting The Waterford and stayed for speeches and we even got fed which is always a bonus.

We had a great day with Marie & Thain’s Wedding Day. Halo Photography would like to wish both of them all the best in the future.
