The winter of 2018…. it felt like it would never end. A week before Becki & Graeme’s wedding we were digging our cars out of snowdrifts. We were hearing horror stories from other photographers of venues cut off and guests being rescued in 4×4’s. But thankfully, as their big day came around, the skies cleared and the “Beast from the East” blew over. In Blyth, the snow had all but gone but in the wilds of Hexham, it was still lingering and guest who didn’t bring his snow boots! Slaley Hall is a beautiful Hotel, Spa & Golf Course near Hexham in Northumberland. We’d been to the hall for a past wedding but always for the reception so it was nice to spend the whole day here.
A first for Halo Photography! A snowball fight with the Best-man & Groom. We thought it was best they got it out of their system before the girlie’s finished getting ready. Its a shame it wasn’t snowman snow.
Look at that sun streaking into the service room! I’ll admit I was worried we’d have a squinting couple and a bleached out wedding dress but I think we used it to good effect.
Graemes’ Dad had recently suffered a severe stroke and I was told the family had never seen him cry before then. Now, the family joked that it took very little to get him going and the lads lovingly had a sweepstake on how long it would take him to crack up. It only took Becki crying as she walked down the aisle for him to get emotional which then started Graeme’s waterworks. Only for Becki to giggle her head off at what she had started!
Oh, how I wish I had brought some hiking boots! I might have looked a plonker but at least I wouldn’t have been Bambi on ice. How I didn’t fall into the pond, I’ll never know. Slaley Hall has a wonderful secret garden but is a short walk and not heels friendly. With the snow and ice everywhere we were forced to keep Becki & GreameSafe in the Pagoda.
We had a fantastic day and one we will remember this very emotional wedding for a long time to come. We wish Becki & Graeme a fantastic life together.
